Columbia Icefield

On Wednesday January 18 my dad and I left for the Columbia Icefields. We were planning to leave two days earlier, but were held up by work and weather. We drove to Blue River and spent the night there. The next morning we drove to Jasper and bought a backcountry camping permit. We then headed to the Icefield Parkway. We parked at the Big Bend. Skiing On Mt. Rohr

On January 2, my family and I skinned and skied on Mt. Rohr on the Duffy lake road. It was cold and windy, about -35 wind chill so we decided to ski a south facing slope. We skied for 600 meters, in and out of avalanche run outs.… Read more

Four Day Trip

On December 20 my dad, my dog and I left our house on our two beat-up snowmobiles. We sledded up the Birkenhead Service road for about 20 kilometres. It took us an hour and a bit to arrive at our destination after needing to U-turn. We stopped at a small clearing around the road where we would make our camp. We dumped most of our gear and hiked uphill for an hour. My dad was amazed at how hard the trail braking was, but that usually leads to awesome skiing.
